Pan Shi Cheng (潘仕成) was a famous and popular governor during the Qing Dynasty who commissioned a series of teapots that have since been named after him, hence the name “Pan Hu.” The wide body gives the tea leaves plenty of room to move allowing for a perfectly balanced infusion with each steep. It's slightly larger size means that this pot is ideal for gongfu tea sessions of between 3 – 4 people.
This Zisha teapot has undergone an additional wood firing, hence the unique colour and markings on the teapot. The wood firing process is quite unpredictable and the marks created on each pot is completely unique to it.
Usage and care:
Rinse and season the teapot before use. Here's a quick guide to show you how. As the clay is porous and teapot is unglazed, dedicate one tea type per pot (or if you wish to take it to the next level, dedicate only one tea per pot). Hand-wash only with water and NEVER EVER wash with soap or detergent. The last thing you want is soapy suds flavouring your next brew.
