Capacity: Approx. 75ml
Material: Yunnan Jianshui Purple Clay
Dimensions: 65mm tall, 55mm diameter
Artist: Luo Zhi Min 骆志敏

A Tang Yu teapot (唐羽壶) is a distinctive Chinese teapot style, characterised by a unique side handle set at a right angle to the body and inspired by ancient palace teapots.

Textured and rustic, yet elegant and precise. These are the traits and qualities of Luo Zhi Min's unique and one-of-a-kind teapots. Every teapot piece is sculpted and carefully hand-built from porous Yunnan Jianshui clay. The vessel is unglazed, giving a very unique, raw and natural look and feel to the teapot.

While we recommend that you dedicate this teapot to brew one type of tea, Yunnan Jianshui clay isn't as porous as Yixing Zisha clay and as such, it is perfectly acceptable to brew different types of teas with the same teapot. Just ensure that you rinse and clean it thoroughly before brewing with a different tea.

Usage and care:
To clean between uses, simply rinse the teapot with hot water and air dry. DO NOT use any soaps or detergents when cleaning the teapot.

Note: This teapot is hand built, unique, and may not be identical to the photographed item. The teapot may be slightly different in colour tone, texture, size, and shape.

Introducing Luo Zhi Min 骆志敏

Talented Chinese ceramicist, Luo Zhi Min majored in Sculpture during his university days. He has since pivoted to creating hand-made tea ware and tea accessories after graduating in 2016. His interest and passion for sculpture remained however and is still a feature of much of his works and is particularly evident in his range of hand-built teapots.

Why so small?

Gongfu tea brewing is often performed with smaller brewing vessels. The smaller sizes of these teapots allows for highly concentrated brews that fully bring out all of the flavour nuances and characteristics of each tea through each steep. These pots are designed for ritual, intended to be filled and decanted repeatedly, to be shared, and savoured with others.
